The Prequel

I think and I ponder,
And so often wonder,
Why was LIFE given to me?
Me- A mortal soul like me?
Was it to accomplish a certain goal?
Of which I have no scope nor intention to toll!

Life happens, they say:
But when and where?
Was it when I was in school and used to dream of a better future?
Or is it when I think of those fun filled days in school-lazy and peculiar?
When do we live if not for the present, my friend:
'Coz the past and the future contain memories and possibilities,
And the only tangible moment is the time in your hands-NOW!

Why are we so scared of living in the present?
Carrying baggages from the past and fearing tomorrow, never took anyone anywhere!
Isn't it time we lived our life like free souls-like gypsies,
Not knowing where we come from and undecided about our future ahead:
In this weightlessness of thought,
The spirit yearns to do what it likes and this gives you unbridled joy!
But will we ever be able to achieve this-Utopian it seems!

A sense of gravitas pulls you down,
But not so much so as to constrain or stultify you:
But to only give you direction and a modicum of reality.
Explore those seas and oceans,
Go find your inner core;
Never be foolish but be child-like,
Making mistakes and ever learning,
And after experiencing these thrills,
I hope I would say-'What a life!'
